The New Cover is Here! (Plus Updates from the Writing Cave)

Ciaran Blumenfeld

Hello Magical Friends!

It’s Really Happening!

I was thrilled to share the news when I signed a five-book deal with Storm Publishing, and now... it’s happening.

This is the brand new cover for The Mudpuddle Manual of Natural Magic, hand-illustrated by Storm’s artist, and I am absolutely in love with it.

In order to move the titles from my imprint to Storm’s, the books are being temporarily taken down and will be republished with this gorgeous new art. In the meantime, they’re still available on Audible, and if you’ve previously downloaded them on Kindle Unlimited, they’ll remain in your library.

I still have a limited number of copies with the original covers to sell in my shop and at live events. These are now officially “Special Editions” since no more will be printed.

What I Love About This Cover

I’m thrilled with the look and feel of these new covers—they are purring with cozy vibes. It’s so fun to see the Mudpuddle fireplace (with the barley-twist columns) and Gemini the cat, who was based on my own beloved odd-eyed cat HK, right there on the cover. She’s still my lucky charm and OG muse. The rich purples and oranges, the magical details tucked into every corner, the warmth of that fire... Ahhhh. It’s everything I hoped for.

I would love to hear what you think! Hit reply and let me know your reaction.

Pre-order the new edition here

And if you haven’t started the series yet, The Mudpuddle Manual is currently a featured deal on Audible—what a perfect way to get into the world ahead of the re-release! If you’ve already read on kindle, I can’t suggest grabbing the audio version to also enjoy. It currently costs less than a cup of coffee!

More Covers Coming Soon...

Pre-orders are also up for re-released versions of The Witches Catalogue of Wanderlust Essentials and The Magpie Oracle of Sense and Serendipity! I’ve seen the sketches for both of these covers, and I feel confident they’re going to be just as colorful and enchanting as this one.

I almost forgot to mention that these new editions include all new art on the interior, including chapter header images drawn by hand by me!

Personal News: College Decision Limbo

In personal news, I'm losing my mind because my son still hasn't made a final decision about which school he'll be attending in the fall.  No cheery Facebook posts decked out in alma mater sweatshirts for us... yet.  We're still waiting, fingers crossed, for the aid/scholarship package from his top choice.

The program he was accepted into is an absolute dream come true for him and such an honor—less than 3% of applicants make the cut. It is also, however, staggeringly expensive.

And so... reality beckons. This weekend he and my husband are off to look a little more closely at the "backup" school. No matter what he chooses, and where he lands, I'm so incredibly proud of him!
