The Cheese-Fueled Fever Dream Between Christmas & New Year's
Ciaran Blumenfeld
Hello magical friends!
Lost in the Best Way
We're in that fever dream period between Christmas and New Year's—that magical time when you lose track of what day it is, what time it is, and eat way too much excellent cheese because everyone seems to be stocking the good stuff for a limited time only.
It's also, perversely, my favorite time of year.
Although my productivity takes a massive hit, I love the break from routine, the easing up of responsibilities, and the "normalness" of wearing pajamas all day long. Granted, I tend to wear a fair amount of loungewear to work (one of the perks of being an author) all year round, but this week, I'm not alone in the practice.
The Good Kind of Tornado
In other news, my oldest daughter moved into her own place this week, my son came home from college, my other daughter popped by for a few days and left again, and we're presently enjoying round three of December houseguests.
To say this past month has been a whirlwind would be an understatement. It's been much more like a tornado. But the good kind—the kind where you wake up and smile dreamily and say "and you were there, and you were there, and you were there..." to the family lovingly surrounding you.
Short, Sweet & Resting Up
I'm going to keep this short and sweet and share one of the silly photos my kids let me take of them this past week before returning to my reading and writing.
Despite the holidays, I remain determined to finish my current WIP by the end of January. I've got a lot already on my plate heading into 2025—stuff I can't wait to tell you more about. For now, I'm going to rest up because I'm excited to hit the new year running and writing up a storm!
