The Great Solo Weekend Delusion
My husband and middle kids are off on their holiday weekend hiking adventure, and my oldest daughter has an active social life, which means I have the beachhouse mostly to myself. Naturally, I've planned a dozen craft projects, outlined two "bonus" books I want to write, sketched out an audio script, scheduled long beach walks, and optimistically believe I'll finish reading three novels.
I'm nothing if not wildly unrealistic about my own time-off productivity levels.
What I actually need to do is finish edits on She Sells Sea Spells, the novella I've written for the Orange County Romance Writers' anthology. It's a fascinating project where all the stories are set in Orange County, spanning from 1850 to the present, following a dynastic family of ranchers through the generations.
There might be a little magic in mine. Just a smidge. 😉
