Greetings From My Couch

Hello magical friends!

Post-Thanksgiving Recovery Mode

Greetings from my couch at the beachhouse, where I am currently flopped, still recuperating from a two-day-long food coma.

I hope your Thanksgiving holiday  was equally delicious and restful as mine has been. I have managed to take myself out for a walk or two, but otherwise I'm binging leftovers and the entire season of and (how about that cliffhanger ending this week?!)

While I'm in recovery/tv zombie mode, I've also been chipping away at one of my revenge craft projects—the gingerbread-themed dollhouse I mentioned last week. You can see my progress pics below. Slow going!

I have to admit I'm frustrated that it's taking so much longer than anticipated. I keep having to remind myself to be patient with the process, which is not my strong suit. Once I get a vision in my head, I just want to see it done!

My new goal is to get the exterior done and leave the interior for next year. Why the rush? I have a deadline.

The Bookie Cookie Tradition

We're planning our annual "Bookie Cookie" exchange in two weeks, and I look forward to this new tradition every year. It's really quite simple: everyone brings cookies to share, and I supply containers so everyone leaves with a cookie assortment.

But my favorite part of this party is the book exchange. Everyone brings one or more pre-wrapped books (blind date with a book style) to add to the pile. Every year I come up with a new way to decide the order people go in for choosing their books. There's always the opportunity to steal someone else's book as well, which is where it gets fun.

I'm planning to display all the wrapped books inside the gingerbread dollhouse so I'd better find a new show to binge and get busy! I plan to cover the whole front center section with tiny detailed vines.
